WebbScuttlebutt is a library that maintains a list of peers in a cluster using a gossip protocol inspired by SWIM. Different techniques are used to improve over the SWIM protocol: Infection-style communication using UDP instead of multicast. WebbScuttlebutt (ssb) is a Peer 2 Peer (p2p) and off-grid Social Network protocol. Applications built with the Scuttlebutt protocol (such as Patchwork, a facebook like UI for desktop, and Manyverse for android) store your data, the data of your friends and their friends on the device, allowing posts to be made and old posts to be explored offline.
