As long as you position the disc shaped sponge provided at the top of the reactor, there is no leakage of granules back into the sump. Posted January 16, 2005. if you have hair algae but your phosphates are zero, then the hair algae is probably just acquiring the phosphates from the water column so the phosphates don't show on the test (this is what refugiums do also). Rowaphos is an iron based material.
