There is a - not completely - known issue with BMW and Clutches where when cold, you take your foot off the clutch gently and accelerate, you get the judder you speak of. I had it on my 3 series saloon (manual), I had it on my 3 Series coupé (Manual) and had it on my X1 (Manual). WebJul 15, 2011 · There is a clutch delay valve fitted in the hydraulic lines to help smooth clutch release, some people have found removing this improves it. As chrisw says, the 3 series is known for clutch judder. My wife's 318i suffers from time to time, and I find giving it a few extra revs when moving off from standstill helps.

WebMay 11, 2016 · My E90 320i has had a clutch judder for most of its 10 year life, I think a lot suffer from it, possibly due to the damper valve that is fitted in the hydraulic line. It is most noticeable if you slip the clutch, but if you come off the clutch with a smooth firm decisive movement it doesn't happen.
